Observation, Speed & SpaceStandalone practice
You are driving at highway speed and see a sharp curve ahead. When should you slow down?
A approaches a sharp right-hand curve at highway speed. The curved road begins ahead of its current straight approach.
Correct answer: Before you enter the curve, so you do not need to brake in it.
Why
A vehicle can travel much faster in a straight line than in a curve, and at too high a speed the tires cannot hold the road. Braking while turning uses traction the tires need for steering and can cause a skid. Slow down on the straight approach, then keep a steady speed through the curve.
