Passing target: 70% (21/30)
You will turn left at the next intersection, and other traffic is around you. Under New Mexico law, over what minimum distance before the turn must your turn signal be on?
A approaches a planned left turn at an intersection. Its position and the near edge of the junction form the endpoints of the approach distance.
Correct answer: At least the last 100 feet before the turn
Why
If a vehicle is about to pull out between you and your turn, wait until you have passed it before you signal, so that its driver does not think you will turn in front of them. The law requires a signal when other traffic may be affected, but the manual advises you to signal every time, because a driver or pedestrian who needs the warning is easy to overlook. After a turn or lane change, make sure the signal has shut off, or others may think you will turn again.
