Traffic Signals & Road MarkingsStandalone practice
You drive on a two-lane, two-way road. The center has two yellow lines: a solid line on your side and a broken line on the other side. What do these lines mean for passing?
A follows a pickup on a two-way road. The yellow line beside A is solid, while the yellow line on the opposing side is broken.
Correct answer: You may not pass, but drivers going the other way may pass when safe
Why
Yellow center lines separate traffic moving in opposite directions, and the line on your side tells you what you may do. A solid line on your side marks a stretch where the view ahead is too short for a safe pass. You may still cross it to turn left into or out of a driveway, alley or private road when it is safe.
