Passing target: 70% (14/20)
Your car stalls on a railroad crossing and will not restart. You hear a train horn, and the train is coming from your right. What should you do?
A faces south and is stalled across a railroad track. Locomotive B approaches from the west, which is to A’s right; the card states that a train horn sounds. A crossbuck identifies the crossing.
Correct answer: Get everyone out and move away from the tracks toward the right, at about a 45-degree angle.
Why
Get everyone out, including children, babies and older passengers, even if you cannot see a train yet. Once you are safely away, find the Emergency Notification System sign at the crossing and call the number on it to report the stalled car. If you are completely sure no train is coming, you can open a window to listen, try to restart, and push the car off in neutral if it will not start.
