Passing target: 80% (24/30)
You are behind a slow car. In which of these situations may you lawfully pass it on the right?
Two road examples each show blue A behind slower silver B. The upper example has two lanes in the same direction; the lower example has a yellow center line and a paved right shoulder.
Correct answer: It is in the left lane of a one-way street marked for two lanes, and the right lane is clear.
Why
A driver being passed on the right may not see you and may turn right or pull over into your path. On a three-lane highway, pass only in the center lane where it is marked for your direction. Before any pass on the right, make sure the lane is free of parked cars and other obstructions.
