Passing target: 80% (24/30)
You follow a tractor-trailer on a city street with one lane in each direction. The truck's right-turn signal is on, and the truck moves toward the center line before the corner. What should you do?
A follows tractor-trailer B on a city street with one lane in each direction. B is near the yellow center line, leaving a gap by the right curb; the card states that B signals a right turn.
Correct answer: Stay behind the truck until it completes the turn, because it needs extra room.
Why
The rear wheels of a tractor-trailer take a shorter path than the front wheels, so the driver must swing wide to keep the trailer off the curb. Always read the truck's turn signal, not only its position in the lane, before you decide to pass. Give the same room to buses, recreational vehicles and vehicles that tow trailers, which also need more space to turn.
