Passing target: 75% (30/40)
You drive behind a motorcycle on a road with two lanes in your direction. The rider stays in the left part of the lane, and there seems to be room for your car to the right of the motorcycle in the same lane. You want to pass. What should you do?
A follows motorcycle B in the right lane of a road with two lanes in each direction. B rides in the left part of that lane, with visible room to its right; the adjacent same-direction lane is clear.
Correct answer: Change fully into the other lane when it is clear, and pass as you would pass a car
Why
A motorcyclist may suddenly change speed or lane position to avoid potholes, gravel, wet surfaces, pavement seams or railroad tracks, and needs the full lane for these moves. Motorcycles are small and hard to see, so check your mirrors and blind spots for them. A motorcycle also needs a longer distance to stop than a car, so do not crowd one from behind either.
