Passing target: 75% (30/40)
You drive in the right lane of a highway with two lanes in your direction. Ahead, a tow truck with flashing lights is stopped on the right shoulder. The left lane is full of traffic, so you cannot change lanes safely. What should you do?
A approaches tow truck B, stopped on the right shoulder with its amber warning beacon flashing. Cars C, D and E occupy the adjacent left lane; the card states that A cannot change lanes safely.
Correct answer: Stay in your lane, slow down, and pass the tow truck with caution at a safe speed
Why
Workers and drivers at the roadside have only a few feet between them and moving traffic. When you move over or slow down, you give them more space and more time if a driver loses control. In Ohio the fine for a Move Over violation is double the usual amount.
