Passing target: 80% (16/20)
On a four-lane highway, you drive in the left lane beside the middle of a tractor-trailer. You cannot see the truck's side mirrors. What should you do?
A travels in the left lane beside the middle of tractor-trailer B on a four-lane highway. The card states that A cannot see B’s side mirrors; both opposing lanes are visible above the yellow center lines.
Correct answer: Pass the truck without delay, or drop back, so you are not in its blind spot
Why
A large truck has large blind spots: right in front, on each side next to the cab, and up to 200 feet behind it. If you cannot see the truck's mirror, the driver cannot see you, and the truck may move into your lane. When you pass a truck, finish the pass without delay and do not ride alongside it. If you do not plan to pass, drop back to where you can see the truck's mirrors.
