Passing target: 83.3% (15/18)
You drive on a road with one lane in each direction and no shoulder. A slow bicyclist rides near the center of your lane, not at the right edge. What is true?
A follows a slow bicyclist B near the center of its lane. The road has one lane in each direction and curbs at its edges, with no shoulder.
Correct answer: The rider may use the full lane on this road, so stay behind until you can pass safely.
Why
Riders often move toward the center of the lane to stay away from potholes, debris and car doors, and to be seen. Pennsylvania law (75 Pa.C.S. 3301(c) and 3505(c)) tells a slower bicyclist to keep right on most roads. That rule does not apply on a roadway with only one lane in each direction, or where the edge is unsafe. Be patient, and pass only when you can give the rider enough space.
