Regulatory, Lane & Parking SignsStandalone practice
You approach an intersection and see this sign: a white rectangle with the words DIVIDED HIGHWAY and a symbol of a road that crosses two separated roadways. You want to turn left. How should you make the turn?

Correct answer: Cross the first roadway, then turn left into the far roadway.
Why
Cross the near roadway when traffic from your left leaves a safe gap, then wait in the median opening until traffic from your right leaves one too. Watch for DO NOT ENTER and WRONG WAY signs, which warn you before a wrong-way turn. A left turn before the median is a common cause of head-on crashes.
