You drive out of a store parking lot onto a two-lane road. A car on the road comes from your left. If you pull out now, that car will have to slow down for you. Who goes first?
A is in a store parking-lot exit before the sidewalk. On the two-lane road beyond it, B approaches from A’s left toward the exit.
Correct answer: The car goes first, because you must yield to all traffic on the road.
Why
The main road must be clear before you enter it from an alley, private road or driveway. In a built-up (urban) district, the law also requires you to stop before you drive onto the sidewalk area, and you must yield to pedestrians on the sidewalk. Before you pull out, look left, then right, then left again.
