Passing target: 20 correct signs and 20 correct rules
When more than one lawful travel lane is available for your route, what should guide your lane choice?
Correct answer: Choose a suitable lane with good visibility and the most usable space around you.
Why
Choose a lawful lane that suits your route, gives a good view and keeps useful space around the vehicle. On a multi-lane divided highway, the left lane is intended for drivers passing slower right-lane traffic and for emergency vehicles. Use it as needed to approach a lawful left turn. On slippery surfaces, also seek good traction within the lane. The shoulder is not an extra driving lane.
