Turns, Lanes, Passing & MergingStandalone practice
You are at an unsignalized location where a U-turn is permitted, but you are unsure there is enough room to finish it safely in one swing. What does SGI advise?
Correct answer: Go around the block instead.
Why
A U-turn changes your direction of travel. Before attempting one, establish that it is allowed, the view is adequate and there is enough room to complete it in one swing. If there is doubt about making it safely with minimal disruption to traffic, go around the block. Permission to turn does not establish that the available space or traffic conditions make the turn safe.
