Passing target: 20 correct signs and 20 correct rules
Before A moves left, why is a shoulder check needed as well as a mirror check?
Blue car A travels in the right lane. Silver car B occupies the neighbouring left lane beside A’s rear quarter.
Correct answer: B may be in the blind spot that the mirrors miss.
Why
A blind spot is an area alongside your vehicle that is not visible in your mirrors. Check the mirror and look over the shoulder on the side you intend to move toward. B occupies the neighbouring space in this example, so A must wait rather than move left. Proper mirror adjustment reduces blind areas but does not remove the shoulder check.
