Passing target: 80% (32/40)
You drive on the interstate at 70 mph in the right lane. Your exit is ahead. Where should you do most of your slowing down?
A travels in the right interstate lane at 70 mph, ahead of silver B. A separate deceleration lane opens to the right and bends into an exit ramp. No braking point or route is marked.
Correct answer: In the deceleration lane, after you have moved into it.
Why
The deceleration lane lets you lose speed away from fast traffic. It is often marked by a line of white reflectors. Signal early, move into it, and then brake to the posted ramp speed. By the end of the ramp, slow to the posted limit of the road that you will enter.
