Passing target: 80% (32/40)
You drive at 40 mph on a two-lane road with a 55 mph limit because you are not sure of the route. Passing is not safe, and six vehicles are lined up behind you. What does Tennessee law require?
Blue car A travels at 40 mph on a 55 mph two-way road with six vehicles behind it. There is no turnout, route, stop mark or chosen action in the question.
Correct answer: Turn off or pull off the road where it is safe, so that the line can pass
Why
In Tennessee, a vehicle that goes 10 mph or more below the lawful maximum is a slow-moving vehicle. When passing is unsafe and five or more vehicles are lined up behind it, the driver must turn or pull off the road at a safe place to let them go by. Even with no posted minimum, you must not drive so slowly that you block normal traffic, unless weather, traffic or the road makes the lower speed necessary.
