You drive on a two-lane street with no traffic signal. At a marked crosswalk, this sign stands on the center line. A woman steps into the crosswalk from the curb on your side of the street. What must you do?

Correct answer: Stop and yield until she is safely past your half of the road
Why
Where a crosswalk has no traffic signal, Texas law requires you to stop and yield to a pedestrian who is in the crosswalk on your half of the road, or who is so close on the other half that you would put the person in danger. The in-street sign reminds drivers of this law; the rule applies at crosswalks without the sign too. The same duty now applies to a sidewalk user, such as a child on a bicycle, who crosses in the crosswalk.
