Regulatory, Lane & Parking SignsStandalone practice
Above the lanes at an intersection you see this sign. Over the far-left lane is a left-turn arrow. Over the lane next to it is an arrow that points both left and straight ahead. You are in the far-left lane, and you now want to go straight. What should you do?

Correct answer: Turn left as your lane requires, then find another way to your destination
Why
Lane-use arrows are regulatory: an arrow alone means that the lane must turn that way, and a combined arrow gives you a choice. Where two lanes turn left, stay in your own lane through the turn so that you do not cut off the car that turns beside you. Choose your lane well before the intersection; if you are in the wrong lane, follow its arrow and change your route later.
