Correct answer: C. Traffic from both directions must share one lane ahead.
Why
This orange work-zone sign warns that in 1000 feet, traffic from both directions must use one common lane. Slow down and be ready to stop. A flagger, a temporary signal, or a STOP or YIELD sign usually controls who goes first, so wait for your turn. A LEFT or RIGHT LANE CLOSED sign is different: it means one lane in your direction closes while other lanes stay open.
Why the other answers are not correct
- A. A closed lane on a road with more lanes in your direction has a RIGHT or LEFT LANE CLOSED sign.
- B. A closed road has a ROAD CLOSED sign; here the road stays open with one lane.
- D. A narrower road with a lane for each direction has a ROAD NARROWS sign; here only one lane is left.
