Show the answer and the explanation

Correct answer: B. Workers may be in or near the road ahead.

Why

This orange work-zone sign warns that people are working in or near the road ahead. Slow down, stay alert and give the workers as much room as you safely can. Obey any flagger and the other work-zone signs. Do not confuse it with the Flagger sign, which shows a person who holds a flag to control traffic.

Why the other answers are not correct

  • A. Wrong: a pedestrian crossing is shown by a different sign with a walking person, not by an orange work-zone sign.
  • C. Wrong: loose gravel is shown by a LOOSE GRAVEL sign; this sign shows a person at work.
  • D. Wrong: a closed road is shown by ROAD CLOSED and DETOUR signs; this sign warns of workers.
