Passing target: 80% (40/50)
In a business district, you drive forward out of a store's driveway. A sidewalk crosses the driveway just before the street, and no one is on the sidewalk now. What does Utah law require?
Blue car A approaches an empty sidewalk from a business driveway. Silver car B is on the public street beyond the sidewalk.
Correct answer: Stop before you reach the sidewalk, then yield to street traffic before you enter
Why
When you leave a driveway, alley or parking lot, you cross two areas where others have the right-of-way. First, stop before the sidewalk and yield to pedestrians and anyone else on it. Then yield to the drivers on the street. If there is no sidewalk, stop at the point nearest the street where you can see approaching traffic.
