Passing target: 80% (40/50)
You drive on a two-lane street toward an intersection that has no traffic signal. A pedestrian in the crosswalk has crossed the far half of the street and is about to step into your lane. What should you do?
Blue car A approaches an intersection from the right. Pedestrian B is near the road's center and is about to enter A's half of the unmarked crosswalk.
Correct answer: Slow down, and stop if needed, so that the pedestrian can finish crossing
Why
Utah law requires a driver to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk who is on the driver's half of the road or who comes close from the other half. Slow down, and stop if necessary, until the pedestrian is safely past your path. The duty applies at marked and unmarked crosswalks. Never pass a vehicle that has stopped at a crosswalk, because it can hide a person who is crossing.
