Passing target: 80% (40/50)
At 65 mph, your right front tire blows out, and the car pulls hard to the right. What should you do first?
Blue A faces right on a two-way highway. A white arrow ahead of its right-front corner points toward the right edge. An enlarged view shows the right-front tire flat; the card states 65 mph and a hard pull to the right.
Correct answer: Hold the wheel firmly, keep the car straight, and take your foot off the gas
Why
A front-tire blowout pulls the car toward the side of the blown tire, and a rear-tire blowout makes the car wobble and shake. When the car has slowed, pull off the road at a safe, level place, turn on the emergency flashers, and then change the tire. Do not stop in a travel lane.
