Passing target: 80% (40/50)
You have stopped at a stop sign on a side street. The cross street has no stop sign. A pickup truck on the cross street approaches from your left and will reach the intersection in a few seconds. What should you do?
Blue A is stopped behind a white line at a side-street STOP sign. Silver pickup B approaches from A’s left on the through road. The card states that B’s road has no stop.
Correct answer: Go after the truck has passed, when the gap in traffic is safe
Why
A stop sign requires two actions: a complete stop, and then a yield. Stop at the stop line; if there is none, stop before the crosswalk; if there is no crosswalk, stop where you can see the cross traffic. Then look left, right and left again, and go only when no vehicle, bicyclist or pedestrian is close enough to be a hazard.
