After a crash, your car goes into a lake and floats on the surface. What should you do first?
Blue car A floats in lake water after a crash. Its lower doors are submerged and its closed windows remain above the water. No window, door or escape action is highlighted.
Correct answer: Unbuckle your safety belt, lower the window and get out through it right away
Why
Water pressure can make a door hard to open, so a window is often the best exit. Before you swim away from the car, check the current of the water. If the car sinks and you cannot open a door or window, wait for the pressure to equalize, take a breath from the air pocket and kick the window out.
