Sunset today is at 7:40 p.m. The sky is clear, and you drive on a highway. From what time does Utah law require your headlights to be on?
Correct answer: 7:40 p.m., at the time of sunset
Why
Headlights help you see, and they also help other road users see you. The time near sunset is dangerous because the light changes fast and dark vehicles become hard to see. If your car has automatic lights, the law is met only when that feature works and is switched on. Also turn on your lights when rain, snow, smoke or fog keeps you from seeing 1,000 feet ahead.
