Passing target: 80% (24/30)
You plan to turn right into a store driveway about 200 feet past an intersection. A car waits on the cross street at your right to pull out. When should you start your turn signal?
A approaches an intersection. B waits on the cross street to A’s right, and a store driveway lies 200 feet beyond the intersection. No signal timing is selected.
Correct answer: After you pass through the intersection, and at least 100 feet before the driveway.
Why
A signal that starts too early can mislead other drivers: a driver who waits at the corner may think you will turn there and pull into your path. A signal that starts too late does not give the drivers behind you time to react. West Virginia law requires a turn signal during at least the last 100 feet before you turn, so here start it once you are through the intersection, and turn it off after the turn.
