Passing target: 80% (24/30)
On a two-lane road, the driver behind you signals and moves into the left lane to pass you. What must you do?
Blue A travels in the right lane of a two-lane road. Silver B has moved into the lane to A’s left to begin passing.
Correct answer: Keep to the right and do not increase your speed until the other car has passed.
Why
Many sideswipe and run-off-the-road crashes happen while one car passes another. Help the passing driver: check your mirror, keep as far right as is safe, and hold or slightly reduce your speed. West Virginia law forbids the driver being passed to speed up until the other vehicle has completely passed. Being passed is not a challenge, so let the other driver go.
