Parking, Reversing & Roadside StopsStandalone practice
You park facing downhill on the right side of a street that has a curb. Which way should you turn the front wheels before you leave the car?
A is parked facing downhill beside a curb on its right. A side-profile slope line identifies downhill; the question contains no wheel-direction detail.
Correct answer: All the way to the right, toward the curb.
Why
The wheel position is a second safety step if the parking brake or the transmission does not hold. When the car faces downhill, wheels turned toward the curb steer a rolling car into the curb, where it stops. The handbook gives the same downhill position with or without a curb. Always set the parking brake too.
