Traffic Signals & Road MarkingsStandalone practice
You wait in a left-turn lane. A green left arrow comes on. A pedestrian is still in the crosswalk of the street that you will turn onto, in your path. What should you do?
A waits in a left-turn lane with a green left arrow. B is walking in the crosswalk on the street A plans to enter. A has no path or priority mark.
Correct answer: Wait until the pedestrian is out of your path, then make the turn
Why
While the arrow is green, oncoming and cross traffic should be stopped, but some drivers do not obey signals, so look before you turn. A green left arrow also allows a U-turn unless a sign forbids it. When the arrow ends and a steady green light shows, oncoming traffic has the right-of-way.
