Passing target: 80% (20/25)
On a two-lane highway, the car ahead of you stops with its left signal on, waiting to turn left. The only space on its right is the gravel shoulder. What should you do?
A approaches B, which is stopped for a left turn. The area on the right is a gravel shoulder, not a traffic lane.
Correct answer: Wait behind it, since you may not leave the pavement to pass on the right.
Why
Missouri allows passing on the right only in a few cases: the vehicle ahead is turning left; a city street or a highway has enough unobstructed lanes; or the street is one-way. Even then, the pass must be safe and must stay on the paved, main part of the roadway. Other drivers do not expect anyone on the shoulder and may pull onto it without looking.
