Turns, Lanes, Passing & MergingStandalone practice
On a two-lane road you want to pass a slow tractor, and a railroad crossing is just ahead. Within what distance of the crossing does Missouri law forbid driving on the left side of the road to pass?
A follows a tractor toward a railroad crossing on a two-lane road. Both vehicles are still before the nearest rail.
Correct answer: Within 100 feet of the crossing
Why
Vehicles may turn, stop or cross at intersections and rail crossings, so a driver passing on the left could hit a turning vehicle or be caught on the tracks. The same 100-foot rule applies near a bridge, viaduct or tunnel when your view is blocked. Finish any pass well before these places, and never pass where a solid yellow line is on your side.
