Passing target: 80% (20/25)
You are on a two-lane road with a broken yellow center line, behind a slow truck. You are nearing the top of a hill and cannot see the road beyond it. What should you do?
A follows a truck toward a hilltop on a two-lane road with a broken yellow center line. A side-view detail shows that the road beyond the crest is hidden.
Correct answer: Stay behind the truck until you can see far enough ahead to pass safely.
Why
Missouri law bars driving on the left side near the crest of a hill or on a curve where your view is blocked. It also bars it within 100 feet of an intersection or railroad crossing, and within 100 feet of a bridge, viaduct or tunnel when your view is blocked. You need a clear view of the whole distance needed to pass and return before you pull out.
