Traffic Signals & Road MarkingsStandalone practice
Your traffic light is green, but a police officer standing in the intersection signals you to stop. What must you do?
A green traffic signal is shown beside a uniformed officer with a raised hand signaling STOP.
Correct answer: Stop and follow the officer's directions, even though your light is green
Why
Officers direct traffic when conditions are not normal, such as after a crash, during a signal outage or at an event, and they can see hazards that you cannot. The guide also says to obey directions from highway workers and school crossing guards. Watch the officer's hands and follow each signal until you have cleared the intersection.
