Passing target: 80% (20/25)
You are on a street with a center two-way left-turn lane. You want to turn left into a store driveway about two blocks ahead. How should you use the center lane?
A is beside a shared center lane marked with opposing left-turn arrows. Solid outer and broken inner yellow lines separate it from the through lanes.
Correct answer: Stay in your lane at first, then move into it shortly before the driveway to slow and turn.
Why
A two-way left-turn lane is shared by drivers from both directions and is marked on each side by a solid and a broken yellow line. Enter it only to slow down or stop before a left turn from the main road; the guide and the Missouri Model Traffic Ordinance (RSMo 300.215) limit travel in it to 500 feet. Watch for oncoming drivers who may use the same lane to turn, and turn as soon as your path is clear.
