A private pickup truck with one flashing green light on its dashboard comes up behind you on a two-lane road. It has no siren. What does the light show, and what should you do?
Silver private pickup B approaches behind blue car A on a two-lane road. An enlarged windshield detail shows B’s single green dashboard light; the cards state that it flashes and there is no siren.
Correct answer: A volunteer ambulance member; yield as a courtesy if you can do so safely
Why
Authorized emergency vehicles use red, red and white, or red and blue lights, and you must pull over and stop for them. The drivers of vehicles with blue or green lights must obey all traffic laws. If one of these vehicles is stopped on the shoulder with its light on, the Move Over law still requires you to slow down, and on a multi-lane controlled-access road to move over when safe.
