Passing target: 70% (14/20)
You drive on a two-lane county road. Ahead, a tow truck with flashing amber lights is stopped on the shoulder next to a disabled car. What does New York's Move Over law require of you?
A approaches tow truck B and disabled car C on the right shoulder of a two-lane county road. B has an amber warning beacon, with flash marks and a neutral caption identifying its operation.
Correct answer: Slow down and use extra care, so that you do not hit the tow truck.
Why
The Move Over law protects police officers, firefighters, tow truck drivers and road crews who work next to moving traffic. On every road, slow down and give them as much room as you safely can. On parkways and controlled-access highways, you must also move out of the lane next to the stopped vehicle when it is safe. A violation is a moving violation.
