Passing target: 83.3% (15/18)
The normal speed limit on a highway is 55 mph. At the start of an active work zone, a sign shows a 45 mph limit. Workers are next to your lane, and the lanes are narrow. What speed should you drive?
A approaches cones that narrow the lane beside two high-visibility workers. A white SPEED LIMIT 45 sign stands at the right roadside. The card gives the normal 55 mph limit and the 45 mph work-zone posting.
Correct answer: Up to 45 mph, and slower if the narrow lanes and workers need it.
Why
An active work zone is the part of a work zone where workers are on or near the road, and signs show where it starts and ends. Speeding fines are doubled in a posted active work zone, and headlights must be on in a signed work zone. Double your following distance, do not use cruise control, and do not cross a solid white line.
