Your car stalls on a railroad crossing. The crossing lights start to flash, and you hear a train horn. What should you do?
A is stalled across the rails while train B approaches from the left. Red warning lamps flash on the crossbuck mast, and the card says a train horn sounds. No escape path appears in the question.
Correct answer: Get everyone out of the car at once and move far away from the tracks.
Why
The best defense is never to be trapped: before you drive onto a crossing, make sure there is room on the other side for your whole car, and never stop on the tracks. If traffic ahead slows, wait before the crossing until the space clears. A train cannot stop quickly, so a car on the tracks has no time to spare.
