You park on a street that slopes downhill, next to a curb on your right. Which way should you turn your front wheels?
A is parked facing downhill with the curb on its right. A separate road-profile panel identifies the slope; no wheel setting is selected in the question.
Correct answer: To the right, toward the curb, so that the curb stops the car if it rolls.
Why
Headed uphill with no curb, you also turn the wheels to the right; only uphill with a curb do you turn them to the left. In every case, set the parking brake, put the vehicle in park (first or reverse with a manual transmission), and turn off the engine. The wheel position is a backup in case the brake or the transmission fails.
