On a four-lane road, a motorcycle ahead of you rides in the left part of your lane. There seems to be room to pass it on the right side of the same lane. What should you do?
Blue car A follows motorcycle B, which occupies the left portion of their lane on a four-lane road.
Correct answer: Change to the next lane to pass, as you would to pass a car.
Why
A rider uses the whole width of the lane to see and be seen and to steer around potholes and blasts of wind. The rider's position in the lane changes often, so it does not mean that the rest of the lane is free. Motorcyclists also must not pass cars in the same lane or ride between lanes of traffic.
