Turns, Lanes, Passing & MergingStandalone practice
You are stopped in an intersection and wait for oncoming traffic to clear so that you can turn left. How should you hold your front wheels while you wait?
A waits inside an intersection to turn left while B approaches in the opposite lane. The body covers the front-wheel angle.
Correct answer: Straight ahead, so that a hit from behind does not push you into traffic.
Why
A rear-end crash while you wait is a real risk at a busy intersection. With straight wheels, a push from behind moves the car forward instead of into oncoming vehicles. Turn the wheel only when the gap is large enough to finish the turn.
