You stopped behind a school bus that shows alternately flashing red lights. The children have crossed and reached the sidewalk, but the red lights still flash and the bus has not moved. What should you do?
Blue A is behind a stopped westbound school bus on an undivided two-way road. Two children are on the sidewalk. The bus has red warning lamps and an extended STOP arm. The card states that the lights still flash after the children have crossed.
Correct answer: Stay stopped until the bus moves, the driver waves you on, or the lights stop.
Why
Children can drop something and run back into the road, and the bus can hide them from your view. That is why Texas uses only these three signals to end the stop, not the judgment of the driver. You need not stop for a bus on the other roadway of a highway with a barrier or median between the roadways, but a center left-turn lane does not make separate roadways.
