Downtown, you wait at a red light in a line of cars. The light turns green, but traffic ahead moves slowly. If you move forward now, your car will stop on the light-rail tracks. What should you do?
A is stopped before light-rail tracks across a downtown street. Its signal is green. Silver B and C form the slowly moving queue beyond the tracks, leaving less than one car length between the far rail and B. No waiting halo or forward route is shown.
Correct answer: Wait before the tracks until there is room for your whole car on the other side.
Why
Light rail runs along city streets and is very quiet, so a train can come near before you notice it. Stopping or parking on the tracks is dangerous and against the law, and a train cannot steer around your car. Cross only at designated crossings, look both ways, and obey all signals, gates and warning signs.
