School Zones, Railways & Work AreasStandalone practice
On a country road, you pass a round yellow sign with a black X and the letters R R. You cannot see any tracks yet. What does this sign tell you?

Correct answer: A rail crossing is ahead, so you must slow down and be ready to stop
Why
The round shape is used only for railroad advance warning signs, so you can know it from far away. A train cannot stop quickly, so never try to beat one to the crossing. If a train is near the crossing, Texas law requires you to stop between 15 and 50 feet from the nearest rail and to stay stopped until it is safe to go.
