Regulatory, Lane & Parking SignsStandalone practice
On a dry, four-lane highway, a white sign reads SPEED LIMIT 55. You want to pass a slow truck, and other drivers around you go about 75 mph. Which statement is correct?

Correct answer: You may not go faster than 55 mph, even to pass or to keep up with traffic
Why
In Texas, a speed above the posted limit counts as evidence that the speed is unsafe and unlawful. Before you pass, make sure that you have room to finish at or below the limit; if you do not, stay behind. The posted limit is the top speed in good conditions only, and you must drive slower when the conditions require it. Texas law also requires the same posted limit for day and night.
