Regulatory, Lane & Parking SignsStandalone practice
Your street meets a highway at a red-and-white triangle sign, point down, with the word YIELD. As you arrive, the highway is empty for a long way in both directions, and no one is walking or riding a bicycle near the corner. What does Texas law require?

Correct answer: Slow to a safe speed, check both ways, and go on without a full stop
Why
The downward-pointing triangle is used only for YIELD signs, so you can know it from far away. Slow down enough to check the cross road and the crosswalk, and stop when your entry would put a driver, a pedestrian or a bicyclist in danger. In Texas, if you drive past a YIELD sign without stopping and then hit a vehicle in the intersection, the crash itself is evidence that you failed to yield.

The road ahead looks straight, and you see no oncoming cars. What should you do?You drive on a two-lane street with no traffic signal. At a marked crosswalk, this sign stands on the center line. A woman steps into the crosswalk from the curb on your side of the street. What must you do?A raised median begins in the center of your two-way street. At its near end stands a white vertical sign with a black arrow that curves to the right around a small black shape. The driveway you want is on the left, a short way past the start of the median. What should you do?Above the lanes at an intersection you see this sign. Over the far-left lane is a left-turn arrow. Over the lane next to it is an arrow that points both left and straight ahead. You are in the far-left lane, and you now want to go straight. What should you do?Your destination is on the left side of the cross street. At the intersection, a white sign shows a black arrow that turns left, with a red circle and slash across it. Traffic is light. What should you do?
