Correct answer: A. You may turn left after you yield to oncoming traffic.
Why
This sign is used where left turns share the green light with oncoming traffic. A green circle lets you turn left, but you must let oncoming vehicles that are close pass first. Keep your wheels straight while you wait, and turn only when the gap is large enough. Look for motorcycles and bicycles too. A green arrow is different: it gives a protected turn.
Why the other answers are not correct
- B. Wrong: a green circle lets you turn, but it does not give you the right-of-way over oncoming traffic.
- C. Wrong: the sign tells you that left turns may go on the green circle after you yield.
- D. Wrong: a green circle permits a left turn unless a sign or other device prohibits it.
