Passing target: 80% (40/50)
Your freeway exit is 300 feet ahead, but you are two lanes to the left in heavy traffic. You have no time to change lanes one at a time with safe gaps. What should you do?
Blue car A is in the left of three same-direction freeway lanes. Heavy traffic occupies both lanes to its right, and the exit is beyond the shown view. The card places it 300 ft ahead, two lanes to A’s right.
Correct answer: Stay in your lane, pass the exit, and use the next exit to return
Why
On a freeway, change lanes only when each move is safe and you have signaled for at least two seconds. When you see your exit too late, accept the miss and come back from the next exit. Do not back up, make a U-turn, or use an entrance ramp to leave the freeway; these moves are illegal. Plan your route and move into the exit lane early so that you do not need a quick lane change.
